Behind the Scenes
How Many Lights?
We have around 10,000 AC lights and 3,082 pixels in our display this year. That's a lot of lights!
How it All Works
Light-O-Rama
We use software and hardware provided by Light-O-Rama. In the months before Christmas, we program every single light to turn on and off at a set time to coordinate with the music in the Light-O-Rama software. Then, when setting up the display, we carefully plug each strand of lights into the correct outlets on the controllers. A computer then tells each controller the precise time of when to turn a given strand of lights on and off while the show is running. There is then a FM transmitter that broadcasts the music to your car's radio. The result is a display of Christmas lights synchronized to a song!
